Travel Ethiopia with
purpose and heart.
Founded by Dejene Hodes, Dejene Ethiopia Tours helps travelers experience Ethiopia as a living story — one shaped by history, spirituality, breathtaking nature, vibrant art, and resilient people.
Hi, I’m Dejene Hodes — and I love Ethiopia.
I was born in Ethiopia and spent much of my life between two worlds — growing up here, studying in the United States, and then making the choice to return home.
I returned because I believe Ethiopia is one of the most beautiful, soulful, and misunderstood places on Earth. I wanted to help change that by showing it the way I know it — not just as a destination, but as a living story.
Dejene Ethiopia Tours was created to help people experience the country with clarity, honesty, and local insight. Many travelers know they want to come, but they do not know what is safe, what is real, or what is worth seeing. That is where we help.
Guidance rooted in real experience.
10+ years of experience

Deep local knowledge
We live here and understand the realities on the ground, not just the brochure version.

Hundreds of guests have traveled with us, returned, and recommended us to others.
Building Ethiopia’s future — one story, one venture, one generation at a time.
The vision goes beyond one company. The long-term goal is to help the world see Ethiopia clearly and to build a stronger creative economy around tourism, art, and storytelling.
Tourism
Through Dejene Ethiopia Tours, we invite travelers to experience Ethiopia’s beauty firsthand — from Lalibela’s sacred heights to the Omo Valley, from Bale’s peaks to Addis Ababa’s streets.
Art
Through Adulis Ethiopian Art, we share Ethiopia’s creative fire with the world and help artists tell the country’s story through visual language.
Storytelling
Through Adulis Media Lab, the dream is to build a serious creative studio that can grow into a powerful Ethiopian media and film production ecosystem.
This is not just a business. It is personal.
I have welcomed solo travelers, artists, families, and spiritual seekers. Some returned four or five times with new friends or groups, exploring deeper every time. To me, that means everything.
This page is not only about what we do. It is about why we do it: to help people understand Ethiopia through real experience, and to build something lasting for the next generation.
