Meet the founder
Dejene Hodes
Hi, I'm Dejene Hodes — and I love Ethiopia.
I was born in Ethiopia and spent much of my life between two worlds: growing up here, studying in the United States, and then choosing to return home. I believe Ethiopia is one of the most beautiful, soulful and misunderstood places on Earth, and I wanted to show it the way I know it — not just as a destination, but as a living story. Many travellers know they want to come, but not what is safe, what is real, or what is worth seeing. That is where we help.

How we started
Ten-plus years guiding international travellers through Ethiopia with care and consistency, deep local knowledge of what is real and worth seeing, and hundreds of returning, recommending guests.
Why we do this
What drives us
The vision goes beyond one company: to help the world see Ethiopia clearly, through tourism (Dejene Ethiopia Tours), art (Adulis Ethiopian Art) and storytelling (Adulis Media Lab) — building a stronger creative economy around all three. This is personal: I have welcomed solo travellers, artists, families and spiritual seekers, some returning four or five times. This page is not only about what we do — it is about why we do it.
